Providence Perfume Co. Shivoo

Shivoo by Providence Perfume Co. came into my fragrant life at just the right moment. I had been eagerly anticipating the Cher musical for months, and as I always do, I had been contemplating which fragrance to wear for this dazzling show.

Just three days before the musical, I was fortunate enough to receive a sample of Shivoo. As I read the description and inspiration behind the fragrance, I couldn’t help but feel that I had stumbled upon the perfect match for this dazzling event.

Charna Ethier, gifted natural perfumer and owner of Providence Perfume Co., found her inspiration for Shivoo while filling up her car at a local gas station. She heard a voice on a TV screen announcing that the word of the day was “shivoo” – a term that refers to a rowdy and festive house party or gathering. Though the origin of the word remains unknown, it may have derived from the French phrase “che vouz,” which translates to “your house.” Instantly captivated with this word, Charna decided to name her fragrance after it. She wanted to capture the essence of a grand celebration, reminiscent of the vibrant scents of the 90s, with raspberry taking center stage in this exuberant blend.

Upon opening my Shivoo sample, the pink and black packaging immediately caught my attention. I could also detect the familiar scent of rose absolute, which I have come to associate with Charna’s work. Once applied to my skin, the fragrance did not disappoint. I was enveloped in the tart and juicy aroma of raspberry, with its green and slightly crunchy floral undertones. The fleshy rose absolute blends with the fruit accord seamlessly, creating a neon pink twist. The fragrance deepens with a cocoa amber base, yet the zesty undertone of raspberry remained present from beginning to end.

As fragrance enthusiasts, we encounter numerous fragrances featuring raspberry. However, how many natural fragrances can we name that truly showcase the fleshy, succulent essence of natural raspberry? Natural perfumers face a challenge in incorporating fruity notes into their creations due to the limitations of their raw material selection. However, Charna has achieved success in crafting an all-natural, photorealistic fragrance that boldly highlights the fruity essence of raspberry through the use of raspberry tincture, raspberry ketone, and raspberry compound.

If you enjoy fruity scents with a vibrant and invigorating twist that are long-lasting and have a strong presence, I recommend giving Shivoo a chance.

Shivoo’s energetic and fun-loving character was the ideal match for the Cher musical. I definitely had fun!

Notes as described by Providence Perfume Co.: raucous raspberry, cocoa-dusted rose, patchouli, botanical musk, an amber kiss.

Shivoo is available in 50 ml atomizer bottles or 4 ml roller bottles.

I kindly thank Charna Ethier of Providence Perfume Co. for my sample of Shivoo.
