La Fleur By Livvy Jadon and Resilient

Olivia Larson of La Fleur By Livvy is back with two all-natural fragrances as part of two different collections and collaborations.

The first, Jadon (or Roots), is a spicy floral fragrance and the latest addition to the Tales of India collection. With this creation, Olivia wanted to pay homage to her roots by using raw materials from India, her native country.

In a first impressions post about Jadon, I mentioned some similarities to The Other Side of Me (TOSOM), an earthy chypre with hints of spice. As I kept testing Jadon, I realized that the resemblance is mostly limited to the peppery opening, but its evolution is very different.

In Jadon, the clove and cardamom are at the forefront and persist throughout the fragrance’s duration. I also detect frankincense, in all its spicy, woody, and refreshing character. Jadon is smoothed by the presence of sandalwood and tonka and warmed by the earthy quality of nutmeg. There’s a ritualistic aspect that evokes a tea ceremony where the poured tea is very spicy (cardamom, clove, nutmeg) and sweetened with a drop of milk (sandalwood) and a tip of a spoonful of sugar (tonka and benzoin).

Notes: Pink peppercorn, Lemon, Basil, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Clove, White lotus, Saffron, Tonka bean, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Frankincense.

Jadon was nominated for the 2023 International Perfume Foundation awards (Brand of the Year category) and won bronze awards for the Artisan Fragrance Salon in San Francisco (most unique and best scent name categories).

The second, Resilient, is a custom-made fragrance for the Molly Brown House Museum in honor of Margaret “Molly” Brown, a survivor of the Titanic, suffragist, philanthropist, actress, and traveler. Resilient is a tribute to the resilient and adventurous spirit of an inspiring and resourceful woman who dedicated her life to activism and women’s rights. The name, Resilient, was chosen as a reference to “unsinkable”, a nod to the Unsinkable Molly Brown.

The fragrance ingredients were selected to represent different parts of the world in honor of Margaret’s travels, and the packaging has the same green of her bedroom’s wallpaper with gold accents that symbolize elegance and sophistication.

Resilient’s opening is citrusy, spicy, and herbaceous. It feels like sitting by a window while the scent of lavender and peppermint bushes wafts in as you sip herbal tea. The aroma of peppermint is prominent, but the fragrance quickly warms on the skin to reveal woody notes and a light touch of white tea. In the dry down, there are soft and lightly powdery touches.

If you find yourself in Denver, pay a visit to the Molly Brown House Museum and sample Resilient, a must try for anyone who loves a good tea fragrance.

Notes: Lemon, Raspberry, Basil, Ginger, Peppermint, Sweet Marjoram, Lavender, Juniper Berry, Eucalyptus, Palo Santo, Blue Cypress, Cedarwood, White Tea.
