One of the things the pandemic has taken away from us is the feeling of looking forward to life’s plans and events with joy and excitement. This includes our long-term view of the future along with the ability to plan trips, to enjoy days at our favorite places, to eat at restaurants, or visit fragrance stores. This feeling of loss persisted through 2020, so many of us took baby steps to ensure 2021 would be more promising.
I’d like to start 2022 with the hope that we’ll all be able to live life even more fully and feel the thrill of the experiences we have missed.
Bubble by Der Duft seems like the perfectly joyful fragrance for raising our glasses and toasting to this new year with sparkles and excitement. I am happy to co-review this fragrance with Sarah, my best friend and partner in crime in many trips and other adventures.
As planners who thrive on anticipation, we are grateful to 2021 for allowing us to rediscover the pleasure of preparing for and anticipating something exciting after a year of uncertainty. With the proper steps and precautions, we went back to organizing trips, watching movies and shows in theaters, visiting art galleries, and occasionally dining out. Despite being aware that things don’t feel like they used to, we also know that the pandemic hasn’t erased our enthusiasm and lust for life.
Sarah received this fragrance as a giveaway from Çafleurebon (read the full review here) in early 2021, so we’ve both had the opportunity to smell it many times throughout the past year.
Effervescent and uplifting, Bubble is based on a champagne accord that surrounds a fruity and tangy rose. At first, the fragrance smells exactly like a newly poured flute of champagne that tingles your nose with a light, frothy cloud of tiny bubbles.
This pleasant sourness makes the sparkling wine-like sensation amazingly realistic, evoking cheer and laughter in good company. Then, the floral and fruity character blossoms into a bright and peachy rose. Cassis and chamomile lend green and herbaceous nuances and we also get whiffs of tart apple.
Bubble’s cheerful, tart, and rosy personality continues to shine as the fragrance unfolds and, later in the evolution, we detect hints of strawberries (what better goes with champagne?) as light musk notes come through.
Notes are listed as they appear on the Der Duft website:
Champagne, Cassis Nectar, Rose, Chamomile, White Musk, Sandalwood, Ambrette.
Bubble was created by perfumer Alexandre Illian for Der Duft, the Germany-based line whose name means “The Scent”, launched by Anselm Skogstad in 2020. Anselm is also a perfumer and has created several Der Duft fragrances.
We reviewed Der Duft Bubble from a 50 ml bottle Sarah won thanks to a Çafleurebon giveaway.
Bubble is available as Eau de Parfum in 50 bottles and samples on the Der Duft website and in select retail stores.

We wish you all hope and joy as we enter this new year.
I have been curious about this one, mainly because of the name and the reference to champagne! I liked his Grasse but have not tried this yet. I’ll have to seek it out during the upcoming year.
I think you’d really appreciate how realistic it is! I also love Grasse and my other favorite is Cinematic.
