I’ve been in floral heaven lately, all thanks to Olivia of La Fleur By Livvy, an artisan brand I’ve mentioned quite a bit in the past. A few months back, Olivia introduced two new fragrances, and she generously sent me travel-size bottles to enjoy.
Let’s dive into each one.
The first creation, Antheia’s Song, was created as an ode to Antheia, the Greek Goddess of gardens, blossoms, wreaths, and vegetation. The fragrance evokes the garland crowning the goddess. The flowers in the garland give off the sweetness of orange blossoms and the subtle scent of magnolia and lily of the valley. There’s also a touch of wine sweetness. Could this be the fruity spice of rhododendron? Beneath the garland lies a base of wood and resins: gentle, cozy and as sweet as Antheia’s tune.
Notes:
Top: Orange Blossom, Rhododendron
Mid: Magnolia, Lily of the Valley
Base: Rosewood Leaf, Cedarwood, Labdanum, Opoponax
Antheia’s Song won multiple Artisan Fragrance Salon Awards, including a silver award for the Aroma category and a gold award for Scent Artistry category.
The other fragrance, Fleur d’Innocence, is a reformulated version of the brand original, launched in 2013 as part of the Fleur Collection and later discontinued. Fleur d’Innocence is a green floral, which is probably my favorite category of floral fragrance. The scent evokes a walk through a lush meadow on a damp day, with droplets of dew dotting the grass. Citrus notes add vibrancy, while a verdant, slightly bitter narcissus adds carnal, almost animalic touches. The fragrance evolves into a woody amber, both creamy and powdery with vegetal and spicy nuances (from the herbs and anise) persisting throughout.
Top: Citrus accord
Mid: Lily of the Valley, Narcissus, Basil, and Anise
Base: Vanilla, Amber, and Woods
