Sentire X Sainte Cellier

Sentire X Sainte Cellier is a fragrance capsule collection created by Nata Dyshliuk at Sentire Perfumes for Sainte Cellier, the online shop in London owned by fragrance expert and collector, Brooke Belldon.

A fragrance brand from Kyiv, Sentire Perfumes showcases Nata Dyshliuk’s appreciation of beauty through fragrances that are both soulful and wearable as they connect human emotions with scented experiences. In Italian, the verb sentire refers to multiple sensory experiences, which include smelling, tasting, hearing, and feeling. When used in terms of feeling, sentire can refer to emotions but also to textures, fabrics, or anything else we can feel through touch.

The Sentire X Sainte Cellier fragrances thoughtfully match a multitude of sensory concepts. They are tactile, multifaceted, and ever transforming. When you first spray them, they may seem on the quieter side, but they have a way of lingering and revealing themselves when you least expect it. With their unique and intricate structures of notes and accords, they evoke sensations and emotions as they transport me to various places and bring back memories.

Atelier 14

I tend to associate smell to texture, which is why I especially love fragrances that remind me of clothing and textiles. Atelier 14 takes the fougére theme to an unexpected place by evoking the atmosphere and aromas of an industrious fashion atelier. As you step into this bustling workshop, you’re greeted by the scent of cotton, silk, and the luxurious wool of a finely tailored suit. You also get the faint smells of fabric dyes, wooden worktables, oil from the sewing machine, paper from hand-drawn model sketches, and pattern-crafting materials – a mix of mineral, dry, and pleasantly sharp aromas. The atelier is busy but also fancy and clean, so you may detect the personal fragrances and lotions worn by the designers and tailors, along with hints of a freshly mopped floor. There’s also the unmistakable scent of a working hot iron – metallic, ozonic, and vaporous. Blended with lavender essential oil and absolute, clary sage, iris, wool, tonka, and musk, Nata’s realistic “hot iron” accord mimics the toasty scent of an iron pressing on laundered clothing, the steam releasing the fresh and astringent scent from the fabric fibers.

English Garden

This verdant fragrance evokes the sceneries and scents from an orchard: freshly cut stems, lush and crinkled leaves, damp earth, and a woodshed with a gardener’s tools and attire. The summer air is filled with the fresh aromas from a nearby vegetable grove: the scent of tomato vines, fig leaves, basil plants, and moss. You’ll also catch a hint of well-used leather gloves and work boots. The fragrance has the elegant feel of a classic fougére and the polished finish of a barbershop cologne.

Tobacco Sun

My favorite tobacco fragrances are those that either showcase or hint at pipe tobacco, which has a dry and slightly pungent scent profile accented with dried fruit and dark chocolate. I have great memories tied to the smell of my dad’s pipes and the tobacco he used, which smelled like dates and cocoa. The fragrances that nod at the scent of pipe tobacco always transport me back to those moments. In Tobacco Sun, the tobacco note is nicely blended with delicious rum-drenched dates and other dried fruit. Hints of crystallized honey make this fragrance especially decadent but never cloying. I’ve enjoyed wearing this in the summer, but I look forward to revisiting my sample in the cooler days.

Smoked Plum Tea

When I smell this fragrance, I picture a hot cup of black tea in an elegant London pub. This traditional pub is furnished with antique rosewood décor and a quaint fireplace, which give off their dry, ancient smells as I sit back on a plush chair. The fragrance surrounds me in a mist of tea with a hint of prune. The sweetness is balanced by dry cognac, twirls of smoke, and sharp leather. Flecks of cinnamon sticks and woody notes convey a homey and enveloping sensation. This fragrance is equal parts delicious, comforting, and enticing.
